The Plant Sale is Coming . . .
Now is the time to pot up those seedlings and tip roots and divisions and pants you no longer want and put them aside to grow on for the Hardy Plant Sale on May 12. Potted up now, they will look great by early May. While we make money from hosting our wonderful vendors, our big income item is the sale of our donated plants. Your unwanted plant helps us bring in next year’s speakers.
We also need the usual volunteers to make it all happen. If you have a specific job that you would like to do, call or email Steve and Barbara Wallace now -- sjbjwall@msn.com, 541-933-3337.
On Friday we need help bringing plants to the sale, sorting, sprucing up and pricing them, then arranging them on our sales tables. Or, you could help vendors unload or staff the holding area.
We’ll also need a cash register operator or two starting in the late morning. Saturday we will need cash register operators and tag pullers, Visa machine operators, holding area and sales workers, and folks to generally keep an eye on things and be helpful. Then there’s clean-up, and it’s all over again for a year.
If you need pots for your plant sale donations or have some extra pots that you can share, please contact Pam Perryman at 541-344-0896, pam@bobwhitman.com
Please DO NOT contribute the following plants, which have been identified by the State of Oregon as invasive species or have proven to be too aggressive in our local gardens: Buddleia, Bee Balm, English Ivy, Yellow Flag Iris, Loosestrife (purple and yellow are the most common and hardest to control). Creeping Jenny, Bishop's Weed or Goutweed, Turf Grass, Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus), Bindweed, Pampas Grass, St. John’s Wort (although medicinal).
